
Balboa Park is the largest cultural park in San Diego named after the Spanish explorer who first saw the Pacific Ocean. It has 15 museums, theatres, garden areas and the San Diego Zoo. Various entertainment programs go on round the year in this park whether it is a play, musical, concert or museum exhibits.
You can get inside the park grounds free of cost and have free access to the Botanical Building, outside gardens and a few other venues are available. Balboa Park offers passports to visit 13 of the 15 museums. Balboa Park is open round the year the admission fee will vary depending on the locations inside the establishments. You will get membership which is available for purchase from the various museums and performing arts venues.
You can find the visitors center inside the National Historic Landmark House of Hospitality, here you will get more detailed information of the venues available inside the park. At the visitors center you will also get the facility for a 60-minute audio tour of the parks facilities. This audio contains various information like the history of the park, architecture of the park and all other information related to the park.
The San Diego zoo has many different species of animals, the rarest of animals will be found in this zoo. This zoo is designed very brilliantly with over 4000 animals. Various events are performed in the Prado plaza in the evening ranging from concerts, theatres, classes and food.

On December 20 the darkest day of this year, a program is sponsored by the Central Park Conservancy called as 







More than 817 acres of the park was burned in a devastating fire, destroying the bird sanctuary. The park was repaired and restored with some areas still closed for public.
Millennium Park has a Cycle Center which is a heated and air conditioned indoor bicycle parking facility built by the city of Chicago and now sponsored by McDonald's hence now named as McDonald's Cycle Center.
The Botanical Building is one of the largest wood lath structures in the world. It has many tropical plants and exotic seasonal flowers in this lovely space. A Lily pond is situated to the south of this building.
